The Boy Who Forgot to Pray

The Boy Who Forgot to Pray

(A PremKotha Tales Picture Book)

There was once a kind boy who prayed to God every morning and night. His prayers were simple — gratitude for food, family, and peace. He felt light in his heart, as though God was always near him.

The Change
But slowly, day by day, he stopped praying. First, he was too busy with school. Then, he was too tired. Finally, he forgot altogether. Without prayer, his heart grew heavy.

Lucifer’s Whisper
In the silence left by his missing prayers, Lucifer crept in. He whispered in the boy’s mind:

  • “Why bother praying? God doesn’t listen.”

  • “You don’t need faith. You can handle life alone.”

  • “Chase what shines, not what’s right.”

The boy began to feel restless and angry. He envied his friends, lied to get what he wanted, and felt emptier than ever.

The Struggle
One night, the boy dreamed he was walking through a dark forest. Shadows followed him, pulling at his arms. He cried, but no sound came out. At the edge of the darkness, a faint light glowed — the light of his forgotten prayers.

The Return to Prayer
With all his strength, the boy whispered, “God, please help me.” Suddenly, the shadows shrieked and vanished. The light grew, filling the forest. He woke up, tears on his cheeks, and knelt to pray once more.

The Lesson
From that day, he never forgot again:

“Prayer is not a habit I keep. It is the shield that keeps me.”
